Privacy Policy — Calmora

Short version: everything you create in Calmora stays in your browser.

Calmora replaces your Chrome new tab page with a calm personal dashboard. It was built to be private by design: there are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. We do not collect your data, and we never sell or share it. Calmora connects to two outside services, both only to show you content, and neither of them is Skybolabs.

1. What Calmora stores

Your settings, to-do lists, notes, habits, countdowns, links, tab stashes and vision board images are saved with Chrome’s extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and IndexedDB, on your own device. Skybolabs never receives any of it.

It is deliberately not stored in chrome.storage.sync, which would copy it to your Google account and across your devices. That distinction is what makes “stays in your browser” literally true rather than a figure of speech.

Uninstalling Calmora deletes all of it. You can also export a backup, or erase everything, from Settings → Privacy & data.

2. What leaves your device

Three kinds of request, and that is the complete list:

Like any website, these services can see your IP address when your browser contacts them. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests — Wikimedia and Open-Meteo. Place names come from GeoNames data served by Open-Meteo; Calmora does not contact GeoNames directly.

3. What Calmora does not do

It has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no ads and no third-party code. There is no Skybolabs server for your data to go to.
Search: the search box hands your query to Chrome, which sends it to your own default search engine. Calmora never sees or stores your searches, and never changes which engine you use.
Photos: the bundled photos ship inside the extension, so no request is made to show them.
Sound: soundscapes are synthesised on your device. There are no audio files and nothing is streamed.
Icons: site icons for your links and stashed tabs come from Chrome’s own local favicon cache, not from the network.
It does not read the pages you browse.

4. Your control over the data

Export. Settings → Privacy & data → Export backup writes everything to a local file you choose.

Delete. Reset Calmora in the same panel clears local storage, IndexedDB and cached images. Uninstalling the extension has the same effect.

Because nothing is held server-side, there is no deletion request to send us. There is nothing on our side to delete.

5. Permissions, and why each one is needed

storage, unlimitedStorage — to save your settings, lists, notes and habits locally, plus vision board images and the cached daily photo, which can exceed the default quota.
alarms — to run the focus timer and the soundscape sleep timer while no tab is open, and to check for the daily photo once an hour.
offscreen — to play soundscapes and the timer chime from an offscreen audio document, so sound continues after you close the tab.
search — to send your query to your default search engine through chrome.search.query.
favicon — to show site icons next to your links and stashed tabs, from Chrome’s local cache.
scripting — only once you ask to see your timer on other tabs, to draw the timer bubble described below.

Optional, and asked for only when you use the feature

Tabs (Tab Stash) — reads the titles and addresses of the tabs you choose to stash, and saves them locally.
Most visited sites — read once, when you import them as links.
Notifications — shows a notification when a focus session ends.
All websites (timer on other tabs) — lets Calmora add only its own timer bubble to the page, inside an isolated shadow root. It never reads the page’s content, and never sends anything anywhere.

You can remove any of these at any time in Settings → Privacy & data.

6. Children

Calmora is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update it here along with the date above, and note material changes in the changelog.
